Official Artist Bio
Julian Kleiss is an Austria-based singer-songwriter and guitarist. His guitar performance style combines groovy polyphonic classical playing with flashy flamenco strumming techniques and the occasional use of acrobatic two-handed tapping and body drumming thereby making a single guitar sound like a miniature band. No matter the tempo and mood of the performance Julian’s music always emphasizes catchy rhythms and melodies. Peter Finger’s European guitar label Acoustic Music Records released Julian’s debut instrumental album “Birth of the Chameleon” showcasing his solo guitar skills in his own compositions as well as guitar arrangements of popular songs by Michael Jackson and The Jackson 5.
By age 18 Julian Kleiss received an Austrian Newcomer Award. While living in Los Angeles from 2009-2015 he studied music at California Institute of the Arts with explorations in cultural studies, humanities and dance. There he wrote the score for the Student Academy Award-winning 9/11-themed short film “will” by Korean art director/animator Eusong Lee, and also met and married American dance artist Alyssa Alden.
